Abstract
Menkes disease is an X-linked recessive neurodegenerative disorder characterized by an inborn error of copper metabolism. Neurologic complications are frequent in Menkes disease. Urological findings vary from the most frequent bladder diverticula and vesicoureteral reflux towards calculus of the bladder and ureters. These conditions predispose to urinary tract infections, chronic pyelonephritis and renal parenchyma damage. We report a case of cutaneous vesicostomy in a 23-month-old male patient with Menkes disease occuring recurrent bacteriuria.
